As a Principal Engineer Social Platform, you will work within the Social Gaming team to design, deploy and troubleshoot code for our social games. The Principal Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in this field and provides guidance and peer-to-peer level training to others in job family.
Essential Job Functions:
Work on client/server based applications with a variety of web front ends (HTML, Ajax, JavaScript, ActionScript 3.0) connecting to back end servers with server side code written in PHP.
Design, implement, and maintain client side and server side code for web based games.
Analyze, identify, and eliminate bottlenecks and errors on the server side and ensure efficiency and reliability of code.
Work with other client side developers to integrate client/server calls into client side user interfaces.
Work with database administrator to write efficient queries and design data models.
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Required
Experience:Minimum 7 years of experience in progressively responsible Platform Engineering positions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Web development using HTML, JavaScript, Ajax, and/or Flash (ActionScript 3.0)
PHP scripting on back end systems
Unix/Linux background and familiarity with scripting, and monitoring tools
Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming techniques and languages (in particular Java or C++)
CVS, SVN or other version control software
Writing efficient queries in SQL
Knowledge of database modeling including designing tables, keys, and indexes for maximum efficiency
Java or C++
Mobile game development
Unity 3D, OpenGL, and/or Objective-C is preferred, but not required
Background in web application development
LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, PHP, mySQL)
Performance tuning with Apache and/or MySQL for high performance workloads
InnoDB storage engine in MySQ
Physical Requirements:Office environment.
Work Conditions: May require evenings and weekends.
